Why We Joined Madison Heights

Below, you will find several letters explaining why a particular individual or family decided to be a part of Madison Heights Church. Our hope is that these testimonials will help you better understand our community and vision.

We had been praying for God to show us where He wanted us to be.

“When moving to a new town, there are more things to consider than anyone realizes. There are new friends to make, new places to see, new jobs/schools to encounter, and a new church to find. That is where we found ourselves last May as we moved to Madison. We thought that we would start visiting churches once we moved, but before we could even get to Madison, we heard about Madison Heights through a family member. We had been praying for God to show us where He wanted us to be. We were looking for a place where we felt comfortable with the teaching, worship, fellowship, and the overall beliefs of the church. One of the ministers had us over for dinner one evening and planted the first seed in our hearts about this new church. In a short amount of time, this new church became a part of us, and we never had a desire to search anywhere else. Our prayers for a church home had been answered. It was evident to us that God’s hand was on every decision made and we are so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful place called Madison Heights.”

It really feels like one big family and I feel like I am part of something great.

“One day I opened my mailbox and there was an ad for this new church talking about grace and truth and forgiveness. The look of the ad and the message it presented did not fit with what I thought of most churches. I considered visiting, but soon forgot. Several months later something happened in my life that made me think about church. I decided to drop in on Madison Heights. I am glad I did. The message I had seen on the advertisement was true to life. I found community and heard about mercy and truth. I was able to ask questions and for the first time in my life the Bible started making sense. The ministers have encouraged me to continue my walk with God at a pace that is comfortable to me. It really feels like one big family and I feel like I am part of something great.”

We’ve also discovered that the Bible can make sense

“Shortly after the birth of our first child, my wife and I realized that there was something missing in our life. We had good jobs, a nice home, and great friends, but we could not get rid of this lingering, empty feeling. As a child, my wife’s family were very involved in church. She had many wonderful memories from that time in her life and suggested that we give it a try. We’ve also discovered that the Bible can make sense. I, on the other hand, did not grow up in the church, other than Christmas and Easter at my grandmother’s house, and was somewhat hesitant. Truthfully, I didn’t think we were ‘good’ enough to go to church. A friend told us about Madison Heights and encouraged us to visit. At first, I was a little skeptical about a new church, but I trusted our friends. I am glad that we followed their advice. Madison Heights has been a wonderful place for my family. From the very beginning, the church has been so inviting. We’ve learned so much about the Christian faith. We’ve also discovered that the Bible can make sense. The ministers have really taken a good deal of time to answer all our questions. I am really glad we are a part of this new church. Thankfully, our lives no longer feel as if something is missing.”
