MHC ACTS 2:42 COMMUNITY GROUPS
“And they devoted themselves to the Apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42
Teaching- Community is built around the Word of God. True relationship and community is centered on the Word of God by the Spirit of God. The Community Groups of Madison Heights Church will devote themselves to the Word of God through discussion oriented Bible Studies facilitated by a group leader.
Fellowship- The fruit of a Gospel centered ministry is relationships built around our common faith in Jesus Christ. If we are aliens of this world then we need fellowship with those who call the Heavenly Kingdom home. The Community Groups of Madison Heights Church will devote themselves to fellowship by using the bi-monthly meetings to get to know others in our immediate community.
Breaking of Bread- It was common place in the early church for members to open their homes to one another; “having all things in common…together they would break bread in their homes” (Acts 2:44-46). The Community Groups of Madison Heights Church will devote themselves to meeting in the homes of other members of the body, in order that together we might grow and fellowship in the arena of our everyday lives.
Prayer- In a world of confusion, doubt, temptations, and false hopes we are in desperate need of the assurance and aid that is offered in prayer. It is prayer that gives us voice to communicate the divided nature of our hearts, our hope and need of a Savior bigger than ourselves, and our need for daily grace in the everyday of this life. The Community Groups of Madison Heights Church will devote themselves to prayer even as the Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray with prayers of praise, thanksgiving, confession, protection, provision, and assurance (Matthew 6:9-13).
Purpose Statement:
The Purpose of Madison Heights Community Groups is to cultivate the family of God into a vibrant testimony of God’s grace and love to a watching world.
Mission Statement:
The Mission of the Community Groups of Madison Heights Church is to nurture, challenge, and grow the members of Madison Heights into a dynamic testimony of community and faith.
Madison Heights seeks to do this in the following ways:
- Biblical teaching made applicable to our everyday lives
- Small group discussions concerning the Gospel and how it changes lives
- Accountability with one another in the Gospel
- Growing closer to Christ and each other through prayer and acts of service
- Working hand in hand with one another in outreach projects
